- Do I need to have boxing experience to join? No! We welcome everyone, whether you've never stepped foot in a boxing gym before, or you've won multiple Irish titles.
- When is training? We train on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm.
- Where is training? We train in Hall B. The Halls are located in UCD Sports Centre.
- What equipment do I need? Please bring your own hand wraps, towel and water. If you don't have hand wraps you can purchase a pair on our website and collect it at training. If you have your own boxing equipment, e.g. gloves, skippings ropes, then bring them along.
- Where can I buy equipment? Boxing equipment is available at a number of stores around Dublin including Elverys, Sports Direct, Decathlon and Mick Dowling's Sportsworld. You can also purchase equipment online at stores such as Ringsport Ireland or Fightstore Ireland.
- What size gloves are recommended? We recommend purchasing 16 0z gloves.
- How much does it cost? Membership for students & staff to the club is €25, and for graduates it is €100. We charge a Mat fee of €2 per training session to attend.
- Where does the fees go? The fees go towards maintaining the club by paying for coaching, affiliation to the IABA, insurance and the purchase of new equipment.
- What does membership entitle me to do? By being a member of UCD Boxing Club you may attend trainings, run for a committee position and attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
- Can I join the committee? The committee is elected each year at the AGM. The AGM is announced just after the Easter break, so keep an eye out on our posts.
- How can I stay in touch with the Club? The best way is to join the Whatsapp community. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Tik Tok.
- Is it too late to join? It's never too late. We accept new members all year round.
- Can I spar/fight? Sparring and entering competitions to fight is completely optional for our members. If you wish to do either then you must complete an IABA medical and become registered with the IABA through the club. Talk to our New Members Officer, Conan, to find out more.
- Will there be a chance to compete? This year we will enter a team in the International Varsity tournament organised by TCD on November 30th and December 1st. We will also enter in the IATBA Championships which are held in March in the National Stadium, Dublin.
